The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) provides the diagnostic criteria for the classification of mental disorders in the United States. The current edition, the DSM-IV, was published in 1994. Publication of the fifth edition (DSM-5) in May 2013 is one of the most anticipated events in the mental health field.
